The purpose of Submodule 2 is to encourage students to reread Reduced Ball and consider the elements and principals of play analysis that should routinely be used after reading all of the plays in this course. As you did with Trifles, Students read Wedding Band and respond to questions about it, indicating that they understand the meaning of the terms and how they may be applied to this play.
Learning Objectives:
By participating in this module, students will be able to:
1. Identify selected terms commonly used when applied to the text of any play.
2. Correctly apply the terms to Wedding Band.
3. Demonstrate their ability to post and respond to a discussion of the play on the wiki.
Tasks:
Download and Read Reduced Ball which is a summary of David Ball’s Backwards and Forwards often used in play analysis.
Watch Videos on Play Analysis that explain in greater detail the terms that are mentioned in the Summary of Ball's Backwards and Forwards.
Read Wedding Band.
2.2.1 Download and complete the Wedding Band Worksheet Revised and submit it as a separate page attached to your portfolio. Be sure to put attention on issues of diversity when discussing the themes of the play.
